Q:
Where do you work and what is your job all about?
Since 1989, I
have been with EmploymentGroup and currently serve as our Chief
Financial Officer. EmploymentGroup is owned by myself and Mark
Lancaster our CEO. The company was founded in 1958 by Jack Gray and
this year we are celebrating 50 years of Helping People Succeed. We
are a
solutions-based business providing and delivering quality staffing
and managed service solutions to allow clients to focus on their
core business functions. EmploymentGroup specializes in
recruiting, training, and placing permanent and temporary field
associates in contract, administrative, professional, technical, and
light industrial positions. EmploymentGroup focuses on finding the
right person, not just filling a position.
Q: Tell us a little about your family, friends
and hobbies.
My husband Scott
and I live in Battle Creek. We have two sons, Bob who graduated
from Albion College in 2006, and Chris who is currently attending
Albion College. I have a large family, 7 brothers and sisters that
we spend time with. Each year we have a family reunion and the
numbers attending continue to grow. Scott and I love Michigan and
enjoy traveling throughout our state.
Q: How did you get started volunteering for
United Way of Greater Battle Creek?
When I graduated
from Western Michigan University I began work at Price Waterhouse
Coopers in Battle Creek. One of the clients I had the honor of
serving was United Way. My interaction with United Way demonstrated
what a great organization it was and let to me become involved with
United Way on a volunteer basis in the pledge allocation area.
Q: Why do you enjoy volunteering for United Way
of Greater Battle Creek?
It provides me
with the opportunity to both give back to the community and to work
with some amazing individuals from different sectors of the
community who want to do the same.
Q: What is one thing you want community members
to know about United Way of Greater Battle Creek?
United Way
brings to the table community members that: actively listen to
identify the needs of the community; recognize we all need to work
together to address these issues; and are committed to working with
the entire community to meet these needs.
